What does it mean to live a truly blessed life? In Sermon 4 of our BLESSED series, Rev. Craig Hamilton explores Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:7–8:
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
Jesus challenges our culture’s definition of success. True blessing isn’t found in wealth, appearance or status, but in a heart transformed by God.
Craig explores two key heart principles:
1. What’s on the inside is more important than what’s on the outside.
Jesus warns against outward religious appearance without genuine inward transformation, describing such people as “whitewashed tombs.”
2. To change the outside, start with the inside.
Genuine Christian living begins with a transformed heart. We cannot simply try harder to change our behaviour; we need Jesus to transform us from the inside out.
The good news is that a pure heart is a gift from Jesus. Through His sacrifice, He cleanses us and enables us to live wholeheartedly for God.
As you listen, consider: What is really happening in your heart?
